Holy shit. I knew this next round of injections was going to be tough, but as I look at the needle that will be going into my bum.....I feel like crying. I WANT MY MOMMY!!! No seriously. I want my Mom here with me for this injection. My Mom is my rock and if anybody can get me through this, it is my Mom.
This week I start the next phase of medication and another injection. In addition to the Lupron injection that I've been taking every night for the past week and a half, I will be adding to my daily ritual.....Estrace (2mg 1tab 2x/day), PNV/Folate/DHEA (vitamins 3x/day), and the dreaded Estradiol injection (0.1cc into my bum every 3 days).
I opened one of the needles tonight. Not freakin' cool. And you want me to stick this WHERE!?!?
My Mom is out of the country on business but she returns Thursday night. I hope she's home in time to help me with my first bum shot. If not, I have a lovely surro-sister who has already volunteered to drive down here and help me.

I know it's scary, Andrea, but I promise you...it's not too bad. I never expected that you could put that long/fat needle into your bum and it wouldn't hurt! But it's true! The mental part is the toughest to get over. I'm glad you have someone who will be able to help. Hubby did mine every day for 3 months and he was such a trooper! I was too wimpy to "give it to myself!" Hang tough! Can't wait to hear how it goes! :)
Hey, at least it's not everyday like PIO, right? :) Seriously though, it is super scary when you see those needles, yikes! The 1st one is always the hardest, you can do it!! :)
Good luck, dear!!!! IF I CAN DO IT ANYONE CAN!!! :) Seriously, used to almost pass out and get really shakey in the presence of needles. It almost (I said, "almost") becomes fun. :) I just watched a ton of youtube vidoes, my friend drew circles on my tush to guide and bam, it was over. That was PIO and it really wasn't bad at all. I was stunned!!! :) I hope you have the same experience. It's all for that baby!!!!! :D
Have them call you in a rx for EMLA cream ASAP! I got that for my friend and she said it helped tremendously! She didn't do that shot but she used it for PIO! Leave it on for 2hrs before shot and bam no pain! :) Good luck!!! xoxoxoxo!
Ah yes, the IM injections... I remember literally having a mini panic attack the first time I opened my box 'o meds and saw the size of that needle. Blech!! Hugs - and hopefully you will discover it's not nearly as bad as you feared! I've done all my own for all my cycles over the years and my saving grace has always been the EMLA cream so I don't feel the actual injection. Love that stuff! :)
You can do it your strong women. Good luck!
Just don't hit a nerve and you'll be fine. Plus, if you have your husband do them for you it gives you an excuse to say things like "Put it in fast" and "Make sure it's in all the way" so that's always fun.
I agree about the EMLA cream. I used it with PIO and it helped. I got tired of applying it an hour beforehand towards the end, and I did it without it, and it was fine. It really isn't that bad...especially once you've done it for weeks and weeks, it becomes second nature!
You are a rockstar.

Oh the fun. I had PIO so not sure if this shot is the same...but it really isnt THAT bad. With the PIO I just warmed it up in a magic bag and then after the injection I put the magic bag on the area and it helped. Have fun!!!
those shots do suck big time!!! i used emla cream to numb my booty and it made all the difference in the world! you can do it!!! p.s. i am a nurse and if ya wanna meet up sometime i can give you a "nice" shot :)
Soooo...how'd the shots go? :)
